Okay, so again, I need to apologize for my lack of posting! I am really sorry. Now that I am back at school though I should be posting more often since I now have TEH INTERNETZ!!!
So I moved in Sunday and everything went smoothly! Nikki and I went to Target and got things. lol it took us forever to find bed risers, and when I found them I was like “OMG MOM I. FOUND. THEM!!! BED RISERS!!” Followed by me jumping up and down lol. And I also found new lime green sheets (awesome) for $8 since I needed new ones. My room is awesome! I have so so much more space here than I did before- it’s great! Seriously, it feels like a palace compared to me old shitty room. My new roommate (not plural lol!) is really nice and we get along great! She is also into anime and manga and drawing!! So everything really worked out well. Plus, she told me that she goes home weekends so I’ll also have some alone time if I want it- which will be nice.
The campus here is so beautiful! It snowed all day yesterday and I couldn’t stop being amazed at how pretty it was. Everyone I’ve met here so far is really nice and friendly. Like, two people actually asked me if I wanted to have lunch with them. TWO PEOPLE! That never happened at Bloomsburg. So it’s a little weird how people actually want to hang out with me lol.
So yesterday was my first day of classes- I had Prob & Stat, College Writing, and Anatomy & Physiology II. Today I had Sociology, and have A&P Lab at 7 PM-10 PM (blegh)… I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by all the work that it looks like I’m going to have to do. I mean, before all I really had to do was study, and not much else. Now I have to write papers and do presentations and all this other stuff. Blegh on that. But I know I need to get over that fear, and the only way to do that is for professors to force you to do those projects and presentations lol. But all my teachers seems pretty awesome, so that’s good.
I am a little freaked that for Sociology we have to facilitate a classroom discussion for 50 minutes- and I choose the first one that’s a week from Thursday. I’m so fucking nervous about it! I don’t know how the hell to facilitate a class! If anyone has any good ideas, let me know… The first discussion is “Is third world immigration a threat to America’s way of life?”.. I really have no idea how I’m going to do this… We’re in a group of like 7 people, but it’s still nervie making. I just keep reminding myself that the worse case is that I suck horribly and I get a bad grade- it’s only worth 10% of the final grade anyway, and the professor said that even a group that did something weird and not what he wanted got an 80%, so hopefully I’ll be okay. But again, any ideas on how to facilitate a classroom discussion- let me know!
I also got a free mug and falcon plushie when I went to transfer orientation- yay!
This weekend I’m going to go around with my new camera and take loads and loads of pictures of my room, the campus, etc. and I’ll post them up here ASAP!
And I’m sorry for being such a leech Nikki

Hey! When it comes to facilitating classroom discussion all you need to do is come up with some questions to ask the class about the topic in order to get the discussion moving. You can then ask one whenever the discussion seems to lag. Or if they are a quiet bunch divide them into two teams and ask each to argue for or against the topic.

About leading class – I’ve had to do it a few times. My best advice is:
- Read the material for that class more than once if you can.
- Make sure you’ve kept up on the reading immediately preceding the day you lead.
- Don’t be afraid of silence. If you hold the silence, they will get uncomfortable and someone will jump in.
- (Just in case they don’t!) Come with several questions prepared, preferably in several different areas so you can help prompt conversation if it hits a lull – no matter where the conversation’s ended up.
- Try to connect the readings to the stuff you’ve already done in class.
I might think of more later.

One day, I’ll actually call when I say I will. Lol.
I just got back from seeing Benjamin Button again, and I have class tomorrow morning at 10. So I’m pretty much counting on being a walking ZOMBIE. That’s right, I will become a member of the undead tomorrow morning at 9 when I peel open my newly undead eyes. Think of me then.
But uh, anyway… You should just call me tomorrow (Saturday) sometime. Maybe, just maybe, I will call you. Or Nikki. Or skype. I’m not sure yet. The only thing I’m sure of is the looong nap I’m taking after class tomorrow. So call after 1:00.
